The parts that meet your water — the boiling chamber and the collection jug — are 304 stainless steel and borosilicate glass. The lid, condenser fan and switch housing use conventional appliance materials, but steam never condenses on them. We'd rather show you that than pretend the whole machine is two materials.

The boiling chamber — the part that holds and heats your water — is 304 food-grade stainless steel, the same grade used for cookware and surgical instruments. It's inert and non-leaching even at a rolling boil, which is why the water can be heated hard against it without picking anything up. Not a plastic lining, not aluminium under a steel skin: solid 304.
Borosilicate Glass
Collection jug
Distilled water condenses and then sits in the collection jug for hours — so the jug is borosilicate glass, not polycarbonate. Glass is completely inert; nothing leaches back into water you've just purified. Borosilicate specifically handles the thermal shock of hot condensate without cracking.

Post-distillation polish
A coconut-shell carbon sachet in an unbleached paper pouch sits in the jug nozzle. Coconut-shell carbon has the highest micropore volume of common carbons, which is the right pore size for the small volatile organic molecules that can carry over in distillation steam. It catches the last fraction distillation doesn't, and removes the 'flat' taste. One per cycle; replacements sold separately.

The outer lid, the fan that cools the condenser, the power inlet and the on/off switch are conventional appliance plastics and electronics. We're listing them because they exist — but they're part of the machine, not part of the water path. Steam rises, condenses on stainless steel, and collects in glass; it never touches these parts.

Plastic boiling chamber
Cheaper distillers boil water against a plastic-lined interior. Boiling is precisely the condition under which plastics release compounds into water. This chamber is solid 304 stainless steel — the water is heated against food-grade steel, nothing else.
Aluminium boiling chamber
Some 'stainless-look' distillers are aluminium under a thin steel skin. Aluminium leaches into hot water, more so if the water is even slightly acidic. The chamber here is 304 stainless steel throughout, not a plated shell.
Polycarbonate collection jug
Most budget distillers collect into a hard polycarbonate jug — which can leach BPA, especially with hot distilled water sitting in it for hours. Ours is borosilicate glass: inert, and nothing washes back into the purified water.
Silver nanoparticles in the carbon
Some carbon post-filters add colloidal silver as an antimicrobial. The sachet here is pure coconut-shell activated carbon in unbleached paper — no engineered nano-additives in the water you drink.

Getting started.
Fill the stainless chamber
Pour tap water into the 304 stainless boiling chamber up to the max line — about 4 litres.
Drop a carbon sachet in the jug nozzle
Optional but recommended: it polishes the trace VOCs that carry over in steam and removes the flat taste. One sachet per cycle.
Fit the lid and switch on
The element boils the water; the steam rises past the fan-cooled condenser in the lid and drips as pure distilled water into the glass jug.
Collect and store
A full ~4L batch takes about 4–6 hours and the unit auto-stops. Keep the jug covered and use the water within a few days.
Descale periodically
Everything the distiller removed stays in the chamber as scale and residue. Wipe it out with a citric-acid or vinegar solution every few cycles — it's a visible record of what's no longer in your water.
The first 1 month+ weeks.
First batches
The first thing you notice is the residue left in the chamber — scale, sediment, the dissolved solids that used to be in your glass. Distilled water tastes flat at first; the carbon sachet takes the edge off. Give your palate a few days to adjust.
Into the routine
You settle into running a batch every day or two. The glass jug lives on the counter and the bottled water stops. If the flatness bothers you, this is when most people start adding a pinch of mineral salts back.
Descale rhythm
A wipe-down of the chamber every week or two keeps it clean. Nothing wears out — the chamber is stainless, the jug is glass — so the only thing you ever re-buy is the carbon sachets.
